HER STORY
Meet Dr. Gina Dapul-Hidalgo
Patients call her Dr. Dapul. Some call her Dr. Gina. However you say it, what they remember most is how she makes them feel: heard and cared for.
Dr. Gina Dapul-Hidalgo (she/her) is a board-certified adult and pediatric allergist who has spent more than a decade caring for children and adults with asthma and allergies across the Washington, DC area. In 2023, she founded Family Center for Allergy and Asthma (FCAA) to bring that same personal, compassionate approach to families throughout Montgomery County and the greater DC region. She's been voted a Washingtonian Top Doctor every year from 2020 through 2025.
A Path Rooted in Excellence
Dr. Dapul earned her undergraduate degree from Boston University before graduating with Highest Honors from Ross University School of Medicine. She completed her internship and residency at State University of New York (SUNY) Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, where she was named an Intern of the Year, and went on to complete her fellowship in the Division of Allergy and Immunology at the same institution.
As an Empire Clinical Research Investigator Program (ECRIP) Fellow, she immersed herself in translational and clinical research, presenting her findings at national conferences and publishing in the Annals of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. Throughout her career, she's led numerous allergy and asthma clinical trials as both principal and sub-investigator and she brings this research experience directly into the exam room, keeping her care grounded in the latest evidence.
Why She Does This Work
Ask Dr. Dapul what she loves most about being an allergist, and she'll tell you it's the opportunity to serve and help others in her community. She considers it an honor when patients and families put their health in her hands and she treats that responsibility with the seriousness (and warmth) it deserves.
Beyond the Practice
Outside of FCAA, Dr. Dapul lives in Montgomery County with her husband and two children. She's a runner, a newbie mountain biker, and a longtime yoga practitioner. She also spent time coaching Girls on the Run MoCo, mentoring young girls in confidence and healthy habits. When she's not on a run, a trail, or a yoga mat, you'll likely find her exploring the DC area with her family or spending time with loved ones.
